Finding My Summer Colors ...

I  hate to even bring this up.  But our Summer is going to be coming to an abrupt halt in the next two weeks ... Erin back to Auburn, Callie off to Bucknell and Christopher will be at Football camp prepping for a hopefully winning season for the DS Raiders!

Sammy will be the only one truly still on vacation until the end of August.  I am going to see if she'll let me hang out with her.

I have loved taking some time off with my kids and truly reveling in the warm weather.

During this time off, I discovered new colors in my life ...

1.  Soft purple hues found in my Rose of Sharon.
2.  Coral and blues together in this Scarf Top.
3.  The Streets of Lewisburg, Pa. Bucknell Road Trip
4.  $1.00 samples of Trina Turk and Schumacher Fabrics. Whoop Whoop!
5. Mirror Love.  Coming Home.
6.  Chair Makeover - Trina Turk "Pool" Love.
7.  The Simplicity of a White Clapboard House with Black Shutters.  Love.
8.  Fun Jewelry sporting my New Blue Addiction.
9.  Corn popping up in Rows.  Summer's finest.

What are you finding out about yourself this summer?

Orange and Emerald ...

The chair brings the Orange.  Nature brings the Emerald!

This chair literally fell together!  I love it when this happens ... it was a no-thought come together of the best kind!

Hopefully you remember the day I found the skin ... one of those purchases that I truly had no idea where it was going to be used.  Just knew it needed to be mine!

Once I made the decision to use the leather on my chair, I wasn't entirely sure what fabric I wanted on the pillows to complement my chair.  And I wasn't pressed to make a decision which is always a good thing!

And this happened.

The blue/white print is from an old Lilly Skirt that I had in a pile to go to GoodWill.  I loved that skirt, it was getting a little short!  I just glanced over one day while doing the laundry and decided it needed to be a funky little pillow!

I call it Preppy Zebra!

I also didn't want to lose the "spirit of the skirt" so I left the little brass button and pocket!

Then the crazy popular Chiang Mai Dragon fabric.  I was in my upholsterer's workroom one afternoon a couple of weeks ago and saw this:

Well, I stopped in my tracks ... this is beautiful ... what a lucky person bringing this home.  Ha Ha, fooled me!  It was already used and done.  This sofa was in for a little facelift of it's own to become leather.

Well ... hmmm ... what are you doing with the fabric when you pull it off?  I asked.

Um, can I have a piece?

Well ... sure ... and here it is my "vintage" fabric pillow.

Couldn't be happier!!

My throw is a vintage Kantha quilt ... it is so soft and HUGE!  Was purchased to use on our hammock.  But now it is the true traveling blanket!

Yes, the chair will reside in my Illusion Office ... but if I could, I would leave it right here in the grass ... isn't it lovely?

Murphy gives a nod of approval ... the chair brought him out into the heat for a few minutes ... then he disappeared back under the deck into the rocks!  Poor Guy, the heat is really killing him.

Last week brought together my ya ya's and their families.  My Family.  We have been spending a week together every summer for 17 years.  We each come away relaxed, loved, and re-juiced for the next year!
I have been blessed by their friendship, thank you my dear friends!

Thank you for hanging in with me and continuing to check in!

Our Home ... The Sun Porch!

Monday ... here again!  I am not going to lie ... last week was a BEAR!  It seemed like it should have been Friday ... On Wednesday!  But we made it through and what a GLORIOUS weekend we had ... once the sun starts to shine New Englanders come OUT!!

Folks were biking, walking, running, chatting, SMILING!!!  It was a nice little Thank you from Nature after a long week!

We regrouped and spent much of the weekend outside ... I hope yours was good as well.

Here we are at Week 4 of Our Home Tour!

Our Sun Porch ... where Don and I live.  Truly, we could almost do away with every other room in the house.  This has become "our" place ... and the kids' even know I have MY spot!!  They get the rest of the house ... stay out of my seat!

Here's how it looks TODAY ...

If you have been following me for a while, you know that this has been my Inspiration Photo.

Here is where it all started ... A screened in Porch when we moved in here in 2007.  Now, I am a Screened Porch Girl.  I NEED a screened in porch.  I fought Don HARD ... we need this room.  Not the way it looks here ... but I wanted it to stay.  He won ... and we both won!  We could probably use the porch as it was for ... maybe ... 5 months out of the year.  Now we have a room that we use EVERY single day and I couldn't be more thrilled.

He was right ... Damn, I hate that!!

First it was enclosed and we added a small tray ceiling since we had the space to go "up" a little.  Old furniture got shifted around and we were IN!

I found a Lee Jofa fabric I fell in love with for the windows ... I like the colors, the bold, but simple pattern that could go from window to window!  The Roman Shades do go all the way down, however, we have never found the need to drop them.  We love the openness to our back yard, which is truly nothing but woods.

A good friend was sending a Slipped loveseat to the Dump ... WHOA sister, I might want that!!  So we tried it out.  A little puny, but I was happy with the solid fabric ... Also a big chair ( on the right) in here that Don hated ... Byron, however, loved it.  Done deal ... no more dogs on the furniture ... out it went!

Finally this past Fall I called my SlipCoverMan ... I need my Sofa recovered ... I have to ditch the LoveSeat ... so it took a little detour to our home for a few months and ended up in the dump after all!!  I also had a new fabric cushion and pillow cover made for the leather chair (ala my Inspiration!).

We have Swap Shop here at our Dump.  It is like our local flea market ... take some, leave some!!  Remember the ottoman from there?

The Chair that I just had redone that brought some fun color contrast into the room.

HomeGoods Lamp jazzed up with a little black ribbon ... giving a nod to the new black chair!

I like animals.  I am finding that the fake ones are becoming more appealing!!

My NM/Target Tray ... finally the way I like it with my Books, Chinese calligraphy brush, Chinoiserie Vase!

Because the room had been a screened porch ... it is truly a "3 Season Room" that you have to step down into.  We added the Barn Style doors just to give the room a "separate" feel and some personality.  We didn't want to keep French Doors due to space.

I love all the Barn Door Hardware!

While I said our home is full of art ... this room is so full of windows that we only have room for this relic carving.

The Inspiration Photo was what I needed to help me PULL this look together.  I miss the bookcases of the Inspiration ... but love my view.

Hope you have a wonderful week ... I am counting on it!  Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and visit!!

Hide ... obsession

So this week was a blur ... back from Palm Beach ... Did that even happen??? It is always fun to have a few days away ... but then do you feel like you are back peddling just to catch up?  I have two installations happening under a crunch and while it is crazy it is my favorite time of a project ... seeing it all come together.

This also happens to me ... while out and about collecting things to finish off a space I stumble on things.

Some Not Necessary.
Some Absurd.
And some, you just HAVE to scoop up.

Like this Orange Hide ... from one of my favorite Discount Fabric Stores and in My Favorite Color, as you know!

What are you doing to do with it the lady asked?  I have no idea ... but I am NOT passing it up!

I laid it out on my Zebra rug just for you to get the SCALE of this Orange Baby!

I brought it home ... quite pleased.  And started pondering the options.

Then I had to go back ... for another piece of fabric to finish another project and ran across
THIS one ...

Hard to tell the patina of this one in the photo ... but it is shimmery platinum delight.  I have it in mind for a client's office chair!!  She doesn't know it yet!

And then the Orange Hide ... just might make a great statement on my Bergere Chair ... to continue my journey in the Illusion!!

Do you ever stumble on something and you just can't pass it up?  No Matter what?  Did I mention it was only $75.00!!  Oh Yeah!

Have a wonderful weekend ... I am finishing up my "Palm Beach" Closet to share with you on Monday!!

And then ... the Chair!

It has been awhile since I talked about MOC.

The ORC took over my personal time and the MOC took a speedy stop!  You might recall I had plans to be done by Thanksgiving.  Of 2012.

Happy to announce I am back on track ... and the MOC is once again a focus!

Today ... the Star came home!

She is the last piece of furniture to get an update ... a little styling left and I'll be revealing ...

All on a trek of mine to "re-create" a space that FEELS like this.

Working on final touches today!

On the MOVE and Thank you!!

Yesterday I was overwhelmed ... when I woke up and looked at my desk I truly wanted to walk back out of the room ... so I told all of you about my emotional breakdown!!  And you took it all in stride and pushed me to move forward and get myself an INTERN!

I made the call to a local college and am officially about to interview some interns (I hope even ONE is interested!)!  Thank you all for listening and helping me make the commitment.

So this is how the rest of the day went ... Fantastic!!  I met with two clients on projects we are close to wrapping up and felt energized by this ... as well as deliveries of one chair to a client for her BOUDOIR and pillows and window treatments delivered for a Design Delivered Client!

Remember where I showed you my inspiration fabric and then the actual fabrics from FORSYTH Fabrics in Atlanta?  Well ... I am quite pleased!

These are headed to a Lake House

I will be requesting photos once everything is installed!

And you know I'll share!

And here is the CHAIR ... going into a very chic Master Bedroom ... This Chair came from her husband's family when they got married ... she wanted to keep it BUT ... here's what it looked like

And here is what it looks like today.  Okay, the upholsterer ... who I absolutely adore ... came up with the little arm covers.  I have not embraced them yet.  But I appreciate his thought process!!

A little Fabric LOVE!!

A good day ... some things coming out of the LINGERING stage!!  And you, my sweet friends helped me move FORWARD!!  Sometimes a girl just needs a PUSH so she doesn't JUMP!!

Weekend DIY ...

I mentioned yesterday that I didn't have many predetermined obligations this past weekend.  A perfect time to jump into a quick chair fix!  I am in the process (slow birth actually!) of turning my unfinished basement/laundry/workout/junk room into my office.  It currently IS my office, soooo uninspiring!!  So without the ability or desire to completely transform/gut/rebuild this space I am slowly trying to pep it up a little!!

A friend's sister was moving ... and she didn't want this chair ... my sweet friend knows my obsession!  It has been sitting in my "office" for about a year now!

You know I'm a Krylon girl ... but Home Depot was out of Krylon Kelly Green.  I have to say, I am kind of enamored by the Rust-oleum.  It just might sway me.  I am flexible like that.

Found this orange/white/pink chevron fabric for $15.99 a yard.  I only needed two yards.  I could splurge!

You can see the original faded and stained blue/white toile.  While I am a very loyal toile fan, this was not my vision.

Ready for placment!

Close up of the fabric ... hard to tell, but that small stripe is a "pale" hot pink!

Don was traveling ... I could make a mess in the dining room without his knowledge. Who am I kidding?  He is totally used to this.  I think he tries to run away on occasion!
