Monday Morning Push!

Happy Monday and Thanks for hanging in with me!   ... the past few days have been kind of a whirlwind with family and Easter and wrapping up a couple of projects ... trying to get the finishing touches on.  

I have been a horrible blog friend and haven't checked in on my favorites ... I am going to be busy catching up this week ... I know I have missed alot of creativity going on!

The Monday Morning Push is to wrap up a few projects.

So today, I am shopping to finish up an office space ... I showed you the Raw Space here.

Then back at the home front.  Remember this?  Yep, my inspiration fabric and tile for my powder room.

I think this was over a year ago as well.  So it has changed!

I will always love this Quadrille pattern, and tried to order it in wallpaper.  Then I decided on Shrimp!

It is available, but only on a special order ... which costs more.  And when you order a special RUN, you have to have a minimum number of rolls.  I can justify alot of things.  But I just couldn't justify the cost involved for this little room.

So ... Plumber came, Toilet and sink are OUT for prepping walls and new floor!

Remnants of the past hiding behind the toilet!  I'll keep the new wallpaper a surprise (being hung on Tuesday!!).

Statuary White Marble Floor with Platinum Grout.  I am loving it.  I pass by and peek in.  Then have to run upstairs to actually use a bathroom. 

Because, here is my Toilet!!

In the Family Room, in front of the fireplace and showing you my lanterns with Christmas balls still inside.  I just thought they were still adding a little sparkle.  I will remove them when the toilet goes!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter ... and if you don't celebrate I hope you enjoyed the Sunshine and birth of Springtime.  We head to the "Pond" in town every Easter for a Sunrise Service.  It is early ... but such a treat ...

Here's to tying up loose ends this week!  I feel pretty energized and ready to go as the weekend was full of Sunshine and Family celebration!

Happy Monday Everyone ... I trust most of you have made it through the BLIZZARD!!  We were very fortunate to NOT lose power, but many were not so lucky.  I hope everyone gets back to normal very soon! While My family was enjoying the Snow this weekend ...

My ORC was HEAVY on my mind this weekend.  Some Decisions need to be made. I most likely will not Take my walls up to this Fabulousness ... but it sure would be fun!

Wallpaper makes some people a little nervous.  It seems like a Tremendous Commitment.  And those of us who love Design ... seem to have a Hard time Committing!

My Suggestion ... Find the smallest space in your house, like a Powder Room, or a Hallway and Go For IT.  Then I promise it will make you SMILE!!

Settling In ...

This weekend went by in a flash ... the boxes from the attic were unloaded and Christmas began to take shape in our home.  Saturday night I was able to sit and relax and catch up on some of my design magazines ... and I ran across these ...

I am feeling the love for Wallpaper right now.  It is back in full FORCE!  And I can see why.  The Complete antithesis of the minimalistic, monochromatic room.  Are you feeling this? Or Still wanting the Serene?

I love the room, the colors, the pattern and the lamps!  And then I REALLY looked at the room.  Do you see the coffee table?  It has a BOX CUSHION as it 's top!!  A true Table Ottoman right here!!

Texture + Details = Warmth

First and foremost ... thank you all for your kind words and well wishes during Sandy ... we were FINE, but our cable, phones and internet just came on yesterday!!  While I have to say I enjoyed the first few days without them.  The kids and I got outside, we paid more attention to each other and our dogs.  It actually ended up helping us remember what is really most important.  Then, after all the together time ... we were beginning to get a little grumpy!!  So, here we are back in the swing and hoping the few days away made us a little more appreciative of all we have and do what we can to help those who are still suffering through the aftermath.  There are so many who need our help.    

Warmth ... especially on days like the past few where I was looking out into rain and dreariness ... makes me feel better.  Texture can come in many different forms ... and it delivers warmth.

Even this bookcase delivers texture.  I happen to like that it looks real.  Not staged to be perfectly colored.  It  houses Real Books!

A brick floor which totally sets off the simple white furnishings.  Although, I probably would throw down a hide rug ... just for a bit more TEXTURE!!

House of Honey ... South Bay Living

I find as I grow in my design business that I appreciate so many different styles.  I truly love them all.  While I typically consider myself "traditional/eclectic" I see the beauty in each and every Genre of Design ... and can find a love of many looks.

Not only what I am exposed to on a daily basis, but the fact that I had the opportunity to live on the West Coast gives me an "other coast" perspective ... which I love!

1st Dibs introduced me to Tamara Kaye-Honey and I was thrilled to look into her portfolio and found she updated a beach house in Hermosa Beach.  What struck me is that I was so familiar with the structural design of this space.  I lived in Redondo Beach for five years and was so intrigued by the architecture.  Very different than what I had grown up with in the South.  This was my first real world venture!

Apple Green Leather Banquette ... luscious!!   Now I will tell you, and please don't be offended Tamara, I am not a fan of all these horse heads that are out and about right now.  They remind me of the "GodFather" I just cannot move on.

This reminds me of this chest that Barbara did ... for the ORC!

 Back to House of Honey!

The Wallpaper Feature is stunning!  And just note the skin on the floor mixed with the wrought iron railings.  I would probably have recommended to rip them out.  Instead they are a focal point of this design.  I would have been wrong ... I am liking it.

Wallpaper. Feature. Wall.

Today is the official last day of school in our house.  Whew.  It was a long run.  I have been dreaming about summer since March when I started working with a client on a wallpaper feature wall.  

Zoffany - Flowering Tree

The colors are brilliant and the flowers and vines look hand painted.  The photo doesn't quite do justice to the feeling in person.  The flowers look real.  

That really says it all!

This wall needed some love.

Zoffany can do it.

Remember this Chair?

One side of the room was warm and cozy and the other a little cool feeling.  The picture frame moulding frames the wallpaper and makes it feel more special.  Almost like a screen.

Painted furniture is such an immediate and gratifying experience.  This piece was in the painter's barn.  My client liked it and bought it and had him paint it.  He wishes he he had kept it and painted it for himself.

A little wallpaper and paint = a whole lot of love!

Still in Progress ...

but worth showing the coming together of this beautiful living room ... 

Chairs have always been my obsession.  They are like shoes.  A woman can never have too many. Don has even threatened me ... NO more chairs ... whenever I walk out the door to an antique show or flea market.  So, while I still stalk the chairs ... I am discovering a new passion.  The Lamp.  You may have seen this lamp when I blogged about this chair, you can read about it here.  

While we are pulling this room together, we had an unexpected addition!  This piece of furniture ... found in a barn, needing some love, got painted to go in the bedroom.  Well ... take a look, it now has a starring role in the living room.  And it needs a good back drop, don't you think? So a paneled wallpaper feature is in the making.  This gorgeous Zoffany Wallpaper is about to be our Star.

Next, bring on the light.  I am about to do something that I don't normally do.  I am going to mix metals.  The lamp above is gold.  The pulls on this dresser are silver (very art deco and we didn't want to change them) so we are hanging silver sconces.

Do you like to mix?  This is new to me ... I am kind of a "purest"!  But I am feeling pretty good about my first intentional mix!!

Small Spaces

Can we just chat about this room?  If I ever had the need (or want) to live in a tiny space ... This makes me feel like I could do it ... maybe a small "wall" of kitchen appliances and a small table that just continued on into this sitting room and bedroom.  A little feminine, yes, I'm just saying!  I could be happy here ... really happy here!!

I got this off the web ... somewhere!!  I can see a date and page ... but don't know what magazine??

The linens, the wallpaper, the mirror, the glass screen, the "plexi-glass" table, the chandelier, the headboard, the striped velvet sofa, the pouf ... shall I go on?  And here is the thing I love most ... it is small ...  but not minimal!

Could you "go small"?
