Happy Monday!  The to-do list this week is packed with client projects, personal projects (moving in 21 days), Christmas shopping.  

Lions and Tigers and Bears ... Oh My!  

I am feeling a little like Dorothy ... but I am still spinning in the tornado.  

Looking forward to a safe landing on December 30th!

As I am certain many of you will understand I have been decorating our "new" home in my head for a month now.  I have walked through every room in my head when I should be sleeping.   Over and Over.  It is exhausting. 

I pinned this little cottage over a year ago.

This image spoke to me  ... how welcoming and warm ... and I just tucked it away on my Home Board.

Well as I have been scouring images on line and in magazines for small space inspiration ... I found the INSIDE of this home!

I would like to say that we will be moving into an "old" home that has some of this character.  Seems we keep ending up with a home built in the 60's.

Nothing wrong with the 1960's by the way, 

They just don't have the patina.

I like old things.  

Notice the pop of red?  Still considering that pop for our kitchen.  

Not sure I can pull the trigger though.

Definitely working with a smaller space.

And this under the stair thing.  I definitely have a place in mind!!

With good fortune, it won't be housing some major support beam that cannot be touched.

I hate obstacles.

We will be inheriting a dormer wall just like this in our master bedroom.  Not certain how I am going to address that quite yet.  

But we are moving from a King to a Queen Bed.  How do you feel about that?

Old ... is new Inspiration to Me!

This past weekend I had the WONDERFUL opportunity to read some magazines.  I love blogging, y'all know I do.  And the inspiration ... it makes my day to catch up with favorite bloggers and see what DIYing they are up to, what they cooked for dinner, or just getting to know them better.

But the Magazines.  There is something about the rag that holds me captive.  Some people save their copies for years.  I am a RIPPER!  I try not to destroy them, but I find favorite things and before I know what has happened ... RIP!  

I do keep a notebook of my favorites RIPS ...  I should put more on Pinterest.  But I am a toucher.  A feeler.  And want to do it over and over again!

Here's what really strikes me when I am looking for inspiration:

Window Details and Floors ... 

Neutral? Yes, but look at the subtle color in the chair fabric and the texture in the wooden table that brings in the warmth ... and can't you just FEEL the linen on that stool? ... 

And here, if it weren't for the happy punch of Color and Gloss this dining room would be BORING ... but no snooze here ... 

  I like so many styles, so it makes it very fun for me to really look at the images that I have ripped away and discover what draws me in.

Painted Wood Floors

Thanksgiving was last week I know ... but I say to all my blog friends, thank you for your friendship and continuing to check in!  A year ago, when I began my blogging adventure I promised design ideas with life "smattered in".  Well, I had no idea that so much life would be smattered in!  

I am finding that life is what makes design fun.  We all have REAL life.  And we all (I think) are just trying to make our homes a little bit prettier and warmer to celebrate our families and loved ones.  Coming in to a home where you feel loved and supported and comfortable ... this has become more and more important to me as I work side by side with my clients to create each unique space.

You all know I am pining away for a Farm House ... with painted floors.  And I love Orange.  Actually, that is a little dramatic ... but I do love the idea and I would love to try it sometime!!

This is a Beach House ... in New Jersey ... and seriously, doesn't this make you happy?  I know, it is Christmas time ... and I am unloading the boxes as we speak.  

You have to admit, that room is much prettier than the task at hand!

Texture + Details = Warmth

First and foremost ... thank you all for your kind words and well wishes during Sandy ... we were FINE, but our cable, phones and internet just came on yesterday!!  While I have to say I enjoyed the first few days without them.  The kids and I got outside, we paid more attention to each other and our dogs.  It actually ended up helping us remember what is really most important.  Then, after all the together time ... we were beginning to get a little grumpy!!  So, here we are back in the swing and hoping the few days away made us a little more appreciative of all we have and do what we can to help those who are still suffering through the aftermath.  There are so many who need our help.    

Warmth ... especially on days like the past few where I was looking out into rain and dreariness ... makes me feel better.  Texture can come in many different forms ... and it delivers warmth.

Even this bookcase delivers texture.  I happen to like that it looks real.  Not staged to be perfectly colored.  It  houses Real Books!

A brick floor which totally sets off the simple white furnishings.  Although, I probably would throw down a hide rug ... just for a bit more TEXTURE!!
