Cabbage Rose Re-birth ...

I can just feel it ... it is lurking around the edges of my brain.

"Back in the Day" before blogs ... I was taking kid photos, not home design projects.  Last week an IG friend posted a photo of some old fabric she was going to re-purpose and it reminded me of this time in my life.  

I worked very hard for this complete Ralph Lauren Bedroom ensemble!  And the Laura Ashley Stripe wallpaper ... my favorite.  When I look back at this photo I am reminded how much I love the look.  This was circa 1996 ... almost 20 years ago.  I think it is time for a rebirth of the Cabbage Rose. 

Fast Forward to now and I have a new client with this sofa!

I actually told her it was so old it is almost Current!

Knee jerk reaction ... how can we ditch it?

After careful thought ... We decided to see how we can keep it and make it feel fresh and NOW.

And NOT ... Shabby Chic.

Here's a little mix we came up with to bring the Cabbage Rose into 2014!

Don:  "Do it … at least SHE keeps you on task!"

There is a lot of Ugly to tackle before I get to my inspiration … I know you will pull me through!!

And, Yes … I chose Ms. Confidence!

Friday Snip - Its … Is it over YET?

March is what I am talking about.  ICK.  I am over it and looking forward to April in a big way!!

Here's how I ended the month …

1.  Hoping to use this rug in an office I am working on.

2.  Kitchen Island Legs … in the house. Need them IN!

3.  Paint options for a custom piece in the making.

4.  Beautiful Custom Bedding for a client got delivered.  Stunning.  I need new linens.

5.  Snapchat?  Do you use it?  

It's keeping me in touch with my children!

6.  DIY project.  With Tools.  Be concerned!

7. This Animal Print … someone needs to use this!

8.  These Wood Shade products.  New to me.

Eager to try them out.

9.  Can it be?  Pansies!  Hallelujah!

Have a wonderful weekend, we are expecting rain.  

Meaning No Snow.

Family Room ... warm up!

Paint is amazing!  It is an IMMEDIATE refresher.  This family room was dark and heavy.  My client and friend, Karen, is an amazing photographer.  She has an eye for details and her photography is spot on.  But for her family room, she struggled with what to do, what will help her make the room look cozier and feel good.  Karen and her family don't watch alot of tv, but when they want to gather together for something special ... they pull down the "big screen"!

Here's her mantel BEFORE and the beautiful photo she took of her children and pets and put on canvas.

Besides paint ... Fabric! This window was longing for attention and the screen had to get off the floor!

After:

I resisted the temptation to "style" this mantle and fireplace ... I wanted you to appreciate the simplicity of a coat of paint and the pop of the red wood stove!  Don't you feel so much calmer, and HAPPIER??

Can you believe this is the same window?  We were able to hang the screen up and out of the way ... and now the curtains add an air of warmth and sophistication ... and just plain prettier!

We are working on the final project and will show it all to you soon.  In the meantime, I wanted you to see,  how a few small changes can make such an impact!
