Cabbage Rose Re-birth ...

I can just feel it ... it is lurking around the edges of my brain.

"Back in the Day" before blogs ... I was taking kid photos, not home design projects.  Last week an IG friend posted a photo of some old fabric she was going to re-purpose and it reminded me of this time in my life.  

I worked very hard for this complete Ralph Lauren Bedroom ensemble!  And the Laura Ashley Stripe wallpaper ... my favorite.  When I look back at this photo I am reminded how much I love the look.  This was circa 1996 ... almost 20 years ago.  I think it is time for a rebirth of the Cabbage Rose. 

Fast Forward to now and I have a new client with this sofa!

I actually told her it was so old it is almost Current!

Knee jerk reaction ... how can we ditch it?

After careful thought ... We decided to see how we can keep it and make it feel fresh and NOW.

And NOT ... Shabby Chic.

Here's a little mix we came up with to bring the Cabbage Rose into 2014!

I was a First timer and will be back again next year!

Ralph Lauren and the Power of Plaid

No news that Ralph Lauren is Classic ... but just take a refresher course here with me.  The four-poster bed, with Nailheads and Leather on the Headboard.  The walls are covered in plaid flannel fabric ... the chair matches.  The linens and pillows are simple, but the fabric is exquisite.  You can just look at the photo and feel how warm the bed linens are!

Simple really ... not over thought.  Beautiful Chairs, table, lamps, High-boy, and some art and rugs.  Simple, but the best.  And timeless.  Sometimes I ... and I bet alot of you too, want to hurry up and fill the space.  Take your time ... keep it simple ... and buy the best you can.  Then you can move on and live!

Don and I were in London in 2008 and I took these photos at the Ralph Lauren Home store.  I love it as much today as I did then ... and probably will in twenty years.

I'd love to cocoon right here for the winter ... although it is still quite warm here in New England ... making me a little nervous!!
