ORC Linking Event Week 6!

While I am trying to pull my office together for the ORC Linking Event … and work on our kitchen in the whole #ProjectDownsize thing … Real Life took the starring Role!

So no Big Reveal for you this week.  

However, more importantly, I did enjoy the culmination of a 4 Year Challenge that Erin took on at Auburn University. We are so proud of her and all her accomplishments!  This is a challenge that I treasure more than any … watching and cheering on in the background … our children navigating life!

I would love for you to check in over the next few weeks!  My office will get done and even in its' halfway state I am feeling so much more organized!  My assorted piles are now able to reside in one room!

Do check all the progress of the other Linking participants  and the Group of 20 ORC participants.  Their Reveals are so fun and absolutely gorgeous!

And thank you Linda for continuing to push us to make progress in our homes!

Cotton Pickin' Tuesday ...

 Significant for two reasons.  One, all day yesterday I couldn't keep straight that it was Monday not Tuesday.  Don's work schedule has been whacky and it has me totally screwed up as well.  

So ... here's the cotton pickin' part ... 

How lucky am I that I have a friend sweet enough to accept my weirdness and has enough spunk in herself to pick me some cotton!!

Part of what makes Fall for me is all the texture that nature gives.  Besides pumpkins, which I do love ... yes, even in their orange state!  I do love the white ones as well ... but let's not forget how I feel about orange.  I digress.

So Lynn travels this road almost daily as she heads to work.  

She has been giving me the scouting report.

Then, like all good crops ... picking time presented itself.  

She stopped, she picked, she packed and she delivered!

I have been delicately trying to get all the little "stuff" out of the cotton ... But then I poured myself a glass of wine.  Patience is not my strength. 

Guess I'll work on it a little more tonight! 

So when I say I have been pickin' cotton you'll know I am not telling a lie.  

I remember passing this "southern snow" in the fields driving to and from Auburn while I was in school.  It's truly amazing how the fields go on for what seems forever.

I know ... it still needs a little (LOT) of work ... but I knew you would appreciate it!

Oh yeah, and I picked these Montauk Daisies out of my garden last night ... supposed to get the kind of freeze this week that kills everything.  I might as well go ahead and enjoy them!

It's going to be a Real Tuesday ... all day!

Friday Snip-It's ... my Week via Instagram!

It was a short week here, Tropical Storm Karen stopped my travel home from Auburn so I spent a lovely night at the Westin at the Atlanta Airport Sunday night ... with no suitcase.  Then up and at'em early Monday morning arriving here stinky and tired by 3 pm.  I survived the rush and thoroughly looking forward to Friday Night Cocktails!!

Cover Models ...

I have been working on a master bedroom at Smith Lake in Alabama.  You may remember the fabrics we picked out.  Since I was already in Alabama getting Erin settled at Auburn I thought it time I stopped by and finished things up.

 I found myself here on Friday.  And brought these little items home.

Brass Mallard Duck Head Book Ends.

Orange Books.  Spraypainted. I will be doing something similar.

Little Blue/White Crock.

All to bring a little styling together while being true to the feel of the Lake.

One of the booths at the Pickers mall had a line of orange books.  That is what drew me in.

While I was picking ... this was going on at OKL.

These "painted" books are by Thatcher Wine.  While I love what he has done here ... I think I might be more in love with his name.  Thatcher Wine.  With a name like that you know he has sump'in going on!!  You can read more about him on OKL and possibly score yourself some Thatcher Wine.

Fabrics and YaYa's ... no better therapy!

I like to touch fabrics.  It is kind of a sickness ... but it is also Therapy.  I love touching, feeling ... I want fabrics that not only look good, but feel good, physically AND mentally.

The three fabrics in the middle my client already has. Chair, Window Seat Cushion and MGBW Sofa  ... we are looking for a little fluff for the room. You know ... in Pillows.

Therapy day at Forsyth's ... I've mentioned them  before here ...  

I just threw them all in ... and started eliminating ... and re arranging ... quite like a puzzle ... but more than one possibility!

Then I popped over to Lewis and Sheron ... to throw in a few more superstars.

Open. Tight. Flowing.  Sounds like what I think a yoga class would be ... except for I don't do yoga.  But have thought about it and agree that it would be good for me.  In the meantime, I meditate with fabrics.

This mix and match all took place on the L&S cutting table.  They were extremely hospitable as I played and took photos and emailed my client. She was walking in the rain in Boston at the time and I filled her text message InBox with my Rambling Creations.

Enough ... I was hungry and ready for the next stop.  What I didn't expect, was to be stopped in my tracks.  You see, I will see my Ya Ya's and Erin tomorrow at the AU/Ark game in Auburn.  We have been planning this for days ... and as I step outside the door of L&S ... this license tag was parked next to me.  Yep ... a good day all around!!

We must not be the only YaYa's out there ... feeling a kindred spirit today. Except I am very envious.  I want this tag.  I think they might have noticed if I stole it.  So I didn't.

Damn!

Monday Morning Musings ...

Interior Design is on hold today ... I am loving the design of FRIENDSHIP!  My Ya Ya's, as you know, are mine!  We were sorority sisters at school ... friendships formed and one of us (not me!) got a beach house in Florida .... 15 years ago we met there with a few babies in tow.  This is the one of the only photos of that first trip ... clearly, blogs hadn't been invented!!

It just evolved ... let's do it again ... and again ... husbands came (and went!) new babies were born and new husband's and children were acquired and a new boyfriend (um, that sounds so weird at our age!) and life just continued on it's strange little path ... but here's what never stopped.  Our annual trip.

The friendships like this are more precious than gold.  Sometimes we go weeks, even months, without talking to one another.  Random texts are sent and emails ... but we know each other is there for us, no matter what life throws at us!  We show up year after year ... right in step ... life never skips a beat when we are together!

Our children, aptly named the Petite Ya Ya's ... "Petites" for short.  Honestly believe they are all cousins.  As in true Southern Style, we raised them to call us each "Aunt Kim, Aunt Cindy, Aunt Lynn, Aunt Lisa" ... you see where this is going.  When Erin applied for college and was filling out forms to go through Rush ... she thought she was a Legacy of some sort of Chi Omega because our oldest Petite is a Chi O!  I had to remind her that she is not really related ... she looked at me completely like I had horns growing out of my head.  I just let her put it down ... she didn't pledge them anyway!!

We always bring fun gifts ... don't know how this started either ... but we all get so excited to see what everyone gets!  Matching gifts of course!!  This year was the year of the Monogram!!

Yes, the state colors of Alabama are Orange and Blue ... War Eagle!

Monogram coasters ... Erin whipped those up ... she is a Pinterest Arts and Crafts addict!

Our very own "green" grocery and tote bags ... complete with monogram!!

Hats ... this way we actually knew whose is whose!

And here we are today ....

and our Petites ... minus Erin ... Real life hits hard sometimes and she had to WORK!!

Oh, and along the way another one of us (not me!) bought a lake house ... this is why this doesn't look like the beach!

Travel Friday? ... College Tour!

Travel right now revolves around colleges.  That is okay.   Have you been to a college lately? I want a do-over!  I swear I would do it much differently today than I did thirty years ago.  Alot differently.  So, like every parent, I try to impress my children with how lucky and blessed and talented they are ... and to not take this for granted. I hope they listen to me better than I listened to my parents.

Callie and I toured Boston College ... in the rain ... this past Wednesday.

It was beautiful ... even in the rain.  I had no idea that BC was formed for Irish Immigrants that had no other way to be educated.  My family is Irish so this kind of hit a chord.

It is rumored that this building was designed with "The Wizard of Oz" in mind.

I did not take Latin ... in either High School or College.  But supposedly these benches indicate that Toto... 

Is not in Kansas anymore!

Did I mention that it was raining ... and I had to pull out my boots again?

I am an SEC girl ... but I respect the BC Eagles.  Maybe it is because they play Auburn every few decades.  Like, 1939, 1940 and 1982.  Well, Auburn lost the first two, but won the 1982 Game.  So There. We are in the same League.

BC is better at Hockey.

Sort of ... did I mention it was raining?

Can you tell that Callie is interested?  These are her feet.  Those used to be my boots.  She took them.

These are the rumored "million dollar stairs" because BC had them heated so they wouldn't need to be shoveled in the snow.  They had to produce paperwork to prove that they didn't cost that much. Does the main population realize how much more these stairs would cost if they had to hire people to shovel them?  Then they would be the ga-zillion dollar stairs!  I barely get my back walk shoveled.

 The flowers were beautiful.

 Callie instagramed my feet in the rain.  I like her creativity!

Boston College is truly beautiful ... even in the rain.  A fun adventure ... a day with Callie.  I will stop complaining about the Rain.

Fur

All the talk this season about fur ... fake or real ... it seems to be out there.  To wear it or add it in your design plan?  Don and I attended an event at one of his hotels, Aria, in Las Vegas earlier this year ... and these stools took my breath away ... couldn't you just imagine curling up on or around these by a fire on a cold winter's night?  Okay, they are too small to curl up on ... but really, they are divine!  They are made from Alpaca ... no animal was harmed!!

The tips of the trees are starting to turn ... every so slightly.  I love Summer more than anything ... but as the weather starts to shift, I find myself welcoming the cooler temperatures.  Pulling my sweaters down from the top shelf and starting to cocoon.   

And, plus ... there is AUBURN football!!  Revel in the changes of the season ...
