Tangerine Tango ... Still doing it for me!

I am moving toward a decorated home for Christmas.  It is 8 days away so time is going to stop me if nothing else does!

This is a funny time of year ... working frantically on my own home to welcome family and friends to share in the celebration of Christmas.  But then frantically working on others homes as well ... to get them ready for LIVING!

Searching some specific pieces of furniture I found myself intrigued with these ...

Let's just discuss all the things RIGHT in this room ... Color, Chair, Orange printed drapes, Greek Key Coffee Tables, Orange/Red chinoiserie pots, Gorgeous Chest,  Navy blue lattice hiding out in the left corner and of course Chiang Mai Dragon pillows.

Okay, the artwork leaves me a little disappointed ... but with everything else that is going right ... well, I can forgive that!!

Here I am loving the Sofa, the console behind the Flame Stitch Chair and the seemingly oversized art behind the sofa.  The Large Stripe Curtains ... yes, I will find somewhere/some one to do this!

Modern, classic fabric and POP Art.  All of these found here.

Here's to a good productive and Festive week!!

Things I am working on ...

This week has been a whirlwind ... Here's a taste of what has been happening!

Living room for a client who is creative and a personality of color ... she needs a living room that reflects that.  Oh, and she also runs her business out of this room!

Before:

Sofa is going ...

Great chair, but Out of Africa Linen is tired and worn.

Working on de-cluttering.

Inspiration Linen Fabric by Duralee against a wall of Benjamin Moore Fernwood Green.  You can clearly see how my camera is not catching the beautiful color of the walls!

Tangerine Tango has come to the party!!

This room is coming along ... we are hunting for a rug and pillows ... I will keep you posted!!

Next Up:  College Tours Begin!

Callie doesn't know where she wants to go to college.  She is a Junior.  So we started touring schools locally just to give her a feel of what City Campuses feel like compared to College Towns, like Auburn where Erin goes.  We started at Boston University this week.  It was fun and informative. I am certain it is a wonderful school ... but I believe she wants more of a campus.  Excellent, we have made that decision!  One step at a time baby!!  I did snap this beautiful photo.  Brownstone Dorm Rooms ... I like them!

Moving Along:  A renovation project going on ... This sweet family is getting a new family room, kitchen, mudroom and master bedroom.  Here's a shot of what we are doing in the master.  The room is only 14 X 14 and we wanted to maximize the space and make it feel larger.  The architect gave them an angled ceiling and we are putting a picture frame molding on the angles to draw the eyes up and make it feel a little more special!  Painting should begin next week!

The Beginnings of the new Family Room:

It has been a crazy week ... but things are moving and that makes me smile!  I hope you and your families enjoy a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

There's a Fire Burning in my Heart!

The Flame Stitch ... it has been around forever ... and it keeps burning!  Perhaps it was Missoni Fashion that pushed the envelope this summer when they introduced their line at Target ... perhaps it has always been a backbone of design ... whatever it is ... it is Back, it is Here and it is Now.  Fresher than Ever!

Then:

Now:

In my opinion ... 2012 is the year of color.  With Tangerine Tango and Ikat and the Flame Stitch ... If you want to "spiff" up a little this year ... throw in a pillow or two in these Schumacher fabrics and you will be the talk of the neighborhood!!

Tangerine Tango

Miles Redd

I was shopping today, trying to finish up my Christmas list and then supposed to be headed home to wrap the presents I just bought.  My To-Do list however, told me to stop into my favorite paint store and pick up the Benjamin Moore brochure on Metallic Paints.  I am considering adding a little "shine" to a client's dining room ceiling.  As I was picking that up I was completely blown away by Tangerine Tango ... the NEW Pantone color of 2012!  Annually Pantone will declare a particular color the "Color of the Year" and boy oh boy did they hit the nail on the head for 2012.

"Sophisticated, but at the same time dramatic and seductive" according to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.  "Remininscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of a yellow, to form a high - visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy." I'll take Two!

This is what happens to me ... I am plugging along doing what I am supposed to be doing ... then WHAM!  I was feeling a little bit sad today because there is no snow.  Can you believe that?  It just doesn't seem to be Christmasy!  But then a little trip to the paint store and I am ready for the colors of Spring!!

I will re-focus on the task at hand today ... while secretly figuring out where or where to put Tangerine Tango in my life!
