ORC Linking Event Week 6!

While I am trying to pull my office together for the ORC Linking Event … and work on our kitchen in the whole #ProjectDownsize thing … Real Life took the starring Role!

So no Big Reveal for you this week.
However, more importantly, I did enjoy the culmination of a 4 Year Challenge that Erin took on at Auburn University. We are so proud of her and all her accomplishments!  This is a challenge that I treasure more than any … watching and cheering on in the background … our children navigating life!

I would love for you to check in over the next few weeks!  My office will get done and even in its' halfway state I am feeling so much more organized!  My assorted piles are now able to reside in one room!

Do check all the progress of the other Linking participants  and the Group of 20 ORC participants.  Their Reveals are so fun and absolutely gorgeous!

And thank you Linda for continuing to push us to make progress in our homes!

Enjoying the moment while continuing my trek to …

One Room (or one Child) at a Time.

ORC Linking Event … Week FIVE!

Let there be LIGHT!  The Week 5 Theme!

If you are interested, you can click below to get a recap.

So … here we are back in the #ProjectDownsize Office Space.  And Yes, we have light.  However … do you see what I see??? Still no ceiling.

Well … I am all on board with the industrial look and all … but I need a ceiling. My contractor is coming next week. See, we had a leak in one of our skylights.  Don and he decided that was more important than my ceiling.
I was not involved in the consultation!

The Next Addition of Light came on the PB Desk.
Mercury Knobs from Anthropologie.
Just what the Girl Needed.

And yes, you are spying the feet of Ms. Confidence.  She is here and she is PERFECTION!  She is just not ready to reveal herself in all her Nude glory quite yet!!

If you follow me on IG, you know that my chair is at the upholsterers right now. I checked on her today and the Platinum hide is on.  I just delivered the fabric for the back which is the real pièce de résistance!

I am so close … but yet so far from completion for Week Six.  I hope you will continue to check in till around Week 10!

The plan is to get the ceiling up and then I am covering the walls in fabric, similar to my illusion office.  You see I have 24 yards of beautiful white silky fabric that I was going to use for new curtains in our master bedroom before we moved.  Well … it is now going to grace my office walls.  But I cannot do this until the ceiling is up.

There is also a great surprise for a countertop that I am making to provide more storage … But I am waiting. Patiently. For the material to arrive!

Go check out all the other Linkers and see what they've been up to.

The Creativity is Seriously Good my friends!

Thanks again Linda … for helping us all in our quest!

ORC Linking Event … Week 4

I cannot even believe we are at Week FOUR!  Linda is still calling the shots and keeping me on track!

If you are new here, Linda organizes a semi-annual Challenge to change one room in Six Weeks.

You can check out Week 1 and 3 if you are interested.
I skipped Week 2!

And then she asks everyone to join in on their own in her Linking Event to do the same.

Perhaps because I have an entire house, also known as #ProjectDownSize, to do …
I am just crazy willing enough to join in!

I promised last week a post on lighting and a new ceiling.

Well here is the problem when I am not a total DIY'er.
My Electrician is coming TODAY.  He is clearly not as interested in pleasing all of you as I am.

I apologize on his behalf.  However, if you are in my neck of the woods, I'll share him.

He rocks!

So … here is what is happening that you cannot see!

You might remember the "Hide" I scored last year.
It finally has come into it's own.

It is at the upholsterer right now.  Taking over the Toile that graced my kitchen a few years ago.  Here's the thing about chairs.  They Rock. And can be changed in a heartbeat.  Continue the Chair Hoarding.  It is a constant Giver!
And the Kravet accent fabric … well, you will just have to wait to see that little treat.

So … while you might think I am slacking off … here is the real DIY'er going on right now.
Yes, at the same time as the ORC Linking Party.

Remember when Don told me to focus.
You clearly know I am no good at that!!

We are painting the kitchen cabinets.

And I haven't even shared about my countertops yet.

 So I can't make it a total surprise …  they are man-made.
Love at First and Last Sight!
I promise to share more on my finds.

You might spy my Island Top …
But this was quitting time my friends.

Notice Don has his hand on the Kettle One.
Yep. Cocktail time.
We do have priorities after all!
Looking forward to showing you my lighting next week!

Check out all the linking participants here!

ORC Linking Event … Week 3!

Linda is shaking up homes everywhere while Design Addicts like me are running around like crazy to complete One Room in Six Weeks!

Click here to see how I earned the "Go Ahead" from Don to tackle yet another project.

Then Week Two.  I didn't post because I was at HighPoint Market and my head was so spinning on a Design High I couldn't go down into my ugly space.  It was a slap back into reality like none you've ever known!

Here's the space … You can feel my pain I am certain!

The previous owners had used this 7' X 11' space as a darkroom and left me with all the chemicals.

First things first, get a hazmat team to come take it all away!

Then I had to empty the room of all the leftovers from my previous office.

While Pipes were being cut and chemicals removed I set about turning Callie's old desk from Pottery Barn into this show stopper …

Need I remind you that we live in #ProjectDownSize.  I am giving away furniture left and right, so no PURCHASING of furniture is allowed!!

Object 1 that no ORC of mine would be complete without?

 Spray Paint.

While I have you in the spirit of re-using and repurposing things …

I have had this Ballard's SeaGrass rug for almost 8 years and nowhere to use it in #ProjectDownSize.

It has taken on a new life as Wall to Wall SeaGrass!

I know you are completely envious of my Built-Ins!

Object 2 that no ORC of mine would be complete without?

Don.

He thinks is hair is still Brown.  We let him.

TA DA …

Nothing about this post was pretty … but the pretty is coming I promise!

Next week is all about lighting.  If you follow me on IG you've seen the light fixture I snagged.

I know, I'm not buying any new furniture.  I didn't mention anything about lighting!

Next week To Do's:

Walls need to be addressed.
Lighting Hung.
I need a Ceiling.  The Pros will be coming In.
Working on my BookCase/WorkArea/Storage Situation.

Hope you are checking out all the other Linking Participants!

Doing my part …

Well, nothing like a little Group Challenge to get my butt in gear!  I have been sitting (in and) on my Powder Room Re-do for a year.  Everyone needs a Linda in their life to keep us moving along!!

Powder Room ... Week 5!

Hard to believe it is Week 5 of the Infamous One Room Challenge!  Have you been keeping up as 20 Designer/DIY'er's change up a room in 6 weeks?
Check in at Calling It Home and see the fabulous group Linda has rounded up for the challenge

This year Linda invited everyone else with an urge to get something done, to join in!

You will find me and around 60 others over at the

It will truly be a Partayyyy!!  Because I will have my powder room finished!!

Lookie what I got ...

No real introductions needed here ... but for those of you who have been living under a  rock, let me introduce you to Jennifer!

I first met her during one of the first ORC's and she is what my MIL calls a
"Hot Ticket"!
She does the most amazing Chinoiserie prints and I have been coveting them for quite some time now.  So I had to re-do my Powder Room to make it happen!

Here is a round up of some of my favorites (besides my ELEPHANTS) ...

Can I also tell you how NICE she is??

And how Talented she is???

And you need to see what she is doing in her daughter's bedroom!!

And the prints she did for Linda's Family Room!

So ... while I am scurrying around in the background putting the final touches on my Powder Room, I am doing little cartwheels while admiring my elephants!!

You should stop in her shop!  Go get you some Goodness!!

I have also been working on my own little version of Leontine Linens ... Remember my inspiration?  Well, I have real people with real dirty hands using my towels.  So while one day I aspire to have these beautiful towels in my powder room ... for now I am doing my own little DIY hand towel.

It is starting out like this ....

Oh my ... all to be done and ready for the BIG SHOW next week.  Thanks so much to those of you who have watched and cheered me on to finish this little room.  It is quickly becoming one of the favorite spots in my home!

Go check out the other Partayyyy girls here!
