Big Art Inspiration …

There is just something about it.
I have always been a Sucker for Big Art.

I love the Impact.
The Unexpected SIZE.

I didn't get to visit the Kips Bay Showhouse this year and am bumming more than you could know!

So as I scour the web for all of the inspiration the Showhouse gives I found Elissa.

Take a look at this room, and you can see I fell hard.

Some more photos from her website.

And don't for a minute think that Big Art is only about paintings or photographs.
Look at these Roman Shades.  Art in the Window.

Here the Art is Good.
But made better by the flanking mirrors and flowers.

And while you are thinking that the Art on the Back Wall
is Small.
The Art is in the Beams.
Art Framing Art.

And, let's face it.
The Art of God and Nature Beats them All.

I feel a sense of gratefulness toward Elissa for her validation of Large Art.

Hope you are making a place for Big Art!

Cabinet Hardware … Turning UP the Knob!

Pun Intended!

Christopher Peacock is one of my absolute favorite kitchen designers.

I love the WEIGHT of his kitchens.

Via
Not only are his spaces pleasing to the eye … You know when you touch a knob it has quality and weight.
And while #ProjectDownSize is not budget worthy of a CPKitchen … I do want her to have weight.

Thus the knob decision!

Colonial Bronze has become a "go-to" of knobs for me.  They are a good price point, they are solid brass and they have the WEIGHT I look for.

Since I chose the classic round knob I did want to kick it up a notch.  No offense to Big Box Hardware stores, but I wanted them to look better than what I find there.

So we added the Medallion.

When you choose to add this piece, go ahead and buy yourself some "mid-size" screws.  You will need them to hold the two pieces.  One little note I'd like to let Colonial know is that if a client is ordering the medallions they might change out the screws they send.

Not a Huge Deal.  But boy would they up the Customer Satisfaction Quotient!

So see … I did include the Big Box Store in my need for "just right" screws!

The Kitchen is coming together my friends … cabinets all back up!  Crown Molding being painted and Window Treatments at my workroom.

Soon … So Soon!

In the meantime, thought you might enjoy the View through my Knob!

Master Bedroom Inspiration

I hope all the Mother's out there had a wonderful day yesterday.  It was glorious here … the weather was perfect and the kids made a dump run for me.

You have no idea what a gift that was!!

While in reality I am still trying to complete my home office and the kitchen cabinet painting, I am dreaming of our master bedroom potential.

I do my best design work while working on another project.  Seriously.
This is how it happens.

While I am working on a project, for a client or myself, I design the next project.

Now, this doesn't mean I am not focused on the current project, it is just like my mind finds this little space to run wild and it does!

So … here are some images that I have in mind for our new master.  Each room has an element I would like to include.

A canopy or "cocooning" element of some sort.
Martyn Lawrence Bullard

Mirrored Closet Doors.  Elegant. Feminine. Sexy.

Frank DelleDonne

More Cocooning Options.

Penelope Bianchi

We are dealing with windows that are not centered on our wall … I envision a window treatment to hide the windows but still allow us to open the curtains when we want to.

Albert Hadley and designer Harry Heissmann

We don't have a lot of space, but I would love a sitting area at the foot of the bed.  I love this little tufted sofa and chair.

I won't begin on this room for quite some time … there are too many other things demanding our attention right now … but just so you know where I am beginning …

These 2 Armoires from that I found while following Parker Kennedy on InstaGram when Lance was doing a little shopping and posted them.  It took me all of two minutes to dial them up … I NEED these.
And they are patiently waiting in our room to be the star of our MB show!

Happy Monday!

ORC Linking Event Week 6!

While I am trying to pull my office together for the ORC Linking Event … and work on our kitchen in the whole #ProjectDownsize thing … Real Life took the starring Role!

So no Big Reveal for you this week.
However, more importantly, I did enjoy the culmination of a 4 Year Challenge that Erin took on at Auburn University. We are so proud of her and all her accomplishments!  This is a challenge that I treasure more than any … watching and cheering on in the background … our children navigating life!

I would love for you to check in over the next few weeks!  My office will get done and even in its' halfway state I am feeling so much more organized!  My assorted piles are now able to reside in one room!

Do check all the progress of the other Linking participants  and the Group of 20 ORC participants.  Their Reveals are so fun and absolutely gorgeous!

And thank you Linda for continuing to push us to make progress in our homes!

Enjoying the moment while continuing my trek to …

ORC Linking Event … Week FIVE!

Let there be LIGHT!  The Week 5 Theme!

If you are interested, you can click below to get a recap.

So … here we are back in the #ProjectDownsize Office Space.  And Yes, we have light.  However … do you see what I see??? Still no ceiling.

Well … I am all on board with the industrial look and all … but I need a ceiling. My contractor is coming next week. See, we had a leak in one of our skylights.  Don and he decided that was more important than my ceiling.
I was not involved in the consultation!

The Next Addition of Light came on the PB Desk.
Mercury Knobs from Anthropologie.
Just what the Girl Needed.

And yes, you are spying the feet of Ms. Confidence.  She is here and she is PERFECTION!  She is just not ready to reveal herself in all her Nude glory quite yet!!

If you follow me on IG, you know that my chair is at the upholsterers right now. I checked on her today and the Platinum hide is on.  I just delivered the fabric for the back which is the real pièce de résistance!

I am so close … but yet so far from completion for Week Six.  I hope you will continue to check in till around Week 10!

The plan is to get the ceiling up and then I am covering the walls in fabric, similar to my illusion office.  You see I have 24 yards of beautiful white silky fabric that I was going to use for new curtains in our master bedroom before we moved.  Well … it is now going to grace my office walls.  But I cannot do this until the ceiling is up.

There is also a great surprise for a countertop that I am making to provide more storage … But I am waiting. Patiently. For the material to arrive!

Go check out all the other Linkers and see what they've been up to.

The Creativity is Seriously Good my friends!

Thanks again Linda … for helping us all in our quest!
